Public Transportation
If you are traveling on a budget, public transportation is a great way to reach Bukit Lawang. Here are the step-by-step guides from the airport or your hotel

- Step 1 (Airport to Binjai):
Take the ALS bus (orange color) from the airport terminal. Buses depart every hour. The journey to Binjai takes approximately 2 hours and costs IDR 40,000 per person.
- Step 2 (Binjai to Tanah Lapang Bus Station):
Once you arrive in Binjai, take a small yellow public bus (angkot) to the Tanah Lapang bus station. The fare is IDR 10,000 per person.
- Step 3 (Tanah Lapang to Bukit Lawang):
From Tanah Lapang, board the local bus heading to Bukit Lawang. The last bus departs strictly at 18:00 PM (6:00 PM). The trip takes about 2 hours and costs IDR 30,000 per person.

- Step 1 (Hotel to Pinang Baris):
Take a taxi (online taxi or local cab) from your hotel to the Pinang Baris Bus Station.
- Step 2 (Pinang Baris to Bukit Lawang):
From Pinang Baris, you can take a public bus or bargain directly with a local driver/minibus to go to Bukit Lawang. The standard rate is around IDR 50,000 per person, and the journey takes approximately 3 hours to reach the Bukit Lawang bus station.
